Wat is Afro Sci-Fi?

Afro Sci-Fi is niet zomaar een saai sciencefictiongenre. Het is een coole mix van sciencefiction, fantasie en technologie, allemaal met een twist op Afrikaanse- en Afro-diaspora community. Dit genre brengt verleden, heden en toekomst samen en tovert ze om tot een waanzinnige fantasiewereld. Het gaat over thema's zoals culturele identiteit, geschiedenis, activisme en hoe technologie onze levens beïnvloedt.

Afro Sci-Fi is not just another boring sci-fi genre. It's a cool mix of science fiction, fantasy and technology, all with a twist on African and Afro-diaspora communities. This genre brings together past, present and future and transforms them into an amazing fantasy world. It deals with themes such as cultural identity, history, activism and how technology affects our lives.

Een Nieuwe kijk op Identiteit

Afro Sci-Fi speelt een mega belangrijke rol in het herdefiniëren van zwarte identiteit in de toekomst. Het doorbreekt stereotypen en laat een heleboel toffe, complexe personages zien met verschillende achtergronden. Deze verhalen zijn een inspiratiebron voor empowerment en moedigen je aan om je eigen identiteit te omarmen en te vieren. Black Suns/Zwarte Zonnen is zo een verhaal! Geschreven in twee talen zodat je bij ieder hoofdstuk kan kiezen wat lekker leest. Het verhaal gaat over twee zussen Alana (8) en Makeena (14) krijgen veel te verduren als hun planeet in lockdown gaat. Ze wonen op Zion, een verre planeet waar hun soort 'The Meeks' naartoe is verhuisd voor een beter leven. Terug op aarde werden de Meeks gezien als tweedehands burgers, terwijl ze op hun nieuwe planeet Zion eindelijk een welvarend leven kunnen leiden. Vooral omdat hun planeet twee zonnen heeft ☀️☀️ waardoor ze veel sneller gewassen kunnen oogsten dan op aarde..... er is geen armoede en de technologische ontwikkelingen gaan snel. Maar door de ramp op hun planeet wordt alles opeens heel gevaarlijk en… nieuwsgierig en wil je meer lezen? 

A New Look at Identity
Afro Sci-Fi plays a mega important role in redefining black identity in the future. It breaks stereotypes and shows a lot of cool, complex characters from different backgrounds. These stories inspire empowerment and encourage you to embrace and celebrate your own identity. Black Suns/Black Suns is such a story! Written in two languages so that you can choose what you like to read with each chapter. The story is about two sisters Alana (8) and Makeena (14) who have to endure a lot when their planet goes into lockdown. They live on Zion, a distant planet where their species 'The Meeks' have moved for a better life. Back on Earth, the Meeks were seen as second-hand citizens, while on their new planet Zion they can finally live a prosperous life. Especially since their planet has two suns ☀️☀️ which allows them to harvest crops much faster than on Earth..... there is no poverty and technological developments are fast. But because of the disaster on their planet, everything suddenly becomes very dangerous and… curious and do you want to read more?
